Player of the Week

Vote for CatchMark SportsNet Player of the Week (Dec. 5-10, 2022)

The poll will remain open until noon on Friday, Dec. 16.

It’s a new season for the West Michigan Conference.

We’re into the 2022-23 winter sports season, which means the CatchMark SportsNet Player of the Week fan poll has returned.

Like it did in the fall sports season, the Player of the Week fan poll recognizes six nominees. Those athletes were included in this week’s fan poll based upon their performances in athletic events spanning Dec. 5-10, 2022.

The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the six nominees. Voting is open and will continue until noon on Friday, Dec. 16.

Athletes are listed alphabetically:

NATALIE BASSETT, Montague wrestling

The senior, who missed most of last season because of an injury, got off to a fast start in her first match of the year last Wednesday. Bassett pinned Holland West Ottawa’s Izabella Colunga in 1:16 in the 126-pound weight class.

The Packers senior 285-pounder went 5-0 on the day with all pins in Saturday’s Kent City Kickoff Classic. As a team, Fremont went 4-1 with victories over Traverse City Central, Byron Center, Kent City and Newaygo. Last season, Hambrock won a CSAA conference title and posted a 22-6 record.
