The poll will remain open until noon on Friday, Feb. 23.

Time for another CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll.

Nominees have been selected and the fan poll created for Player of the Week, which is title sponsored by Complete Restoration & Cleaning Services, Inc.

We need your votes.

Six winter sports athletes from the conference who stood out in competitions Feb. 12-18, 2024, have been nominated by CatchMark SportsNet. Student-athletes who have already won Player of the Week honors this season are not eligible to be in the fan poll.

Time for you to vote, over and over. The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the nominees. You may vote once per hour. The poll closes at noon Friday, Feb. 23.

Athletes are listed alphabetically:

GAVIN CRANER, Whitehall wrestling

This is the second straight week in the fan poll for the Vikings’ dominant 175-pounder, who had a couple big days in team and individual regional competitions. On Wednesday at his old stomping groups of Belding, Craner made quick work of his two opponents with pins in 49 seconds and one minute as Whitehall captured its eighth team regional title in nine years. In the individual regional tourney Saturday at Howard City Tri County, the junior notched three more pins in 51 seconds, 1:10, and 1:28 in rolling to the title. Craner is 47-0 on the season.

AVA GARCIA, Whitehall bowling

The Vikings senior saved her best game of the season for the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament last Wednesday at Northway Lanes. Garcia rolled a 220 in the second game after shooting 171 in the first game, finishing at 391 to earn medalist honors in the event and win by 21 pins.

DYLAN MAY, Ravenna basketball

The 6-foot-4 sophomore guard had himself a game — make that a quarter — in Ravenna’s 58-57 overtime victory at Mason County Central Friday. May finished with a game-high 30 points, including hitting five 3-pointers in the third quarter alone.

AVA PELTON, Montague wrestling

The junior captured an individual regional title in the 155-pound weight class Sunday at Cadillac. Pelton pinned her way through the bracket, beating LeRoy Pine River’s Adalyn Holmes in 3:28 in the finals. She’s one of five Lady Mat Cats to punch their tickets to the individual state finals March 1-2 at Ford Field in Detroit. Pelton has a 25-4 record on the season.

RYANN ROBINS, Holton basketball

Holton’s 6-foot senior achieved a couple of milestones last Thursday despite the 41-31 home loss to North Muskegon. In the second quarter, Robins reached the 1,000-point milestone for her career with a pair of free throws. In the fourth quarter, she became the Red Devils’ all-time leading girls scorer now with 1,011 points. Robins passed Amy DeLong (1,010 points in 1990-93) on the list. Robins finished the game with 15 points and 21 rebounds.

HUNTER SANFORD, Mason County Central wrestling

The Spartans’ 120-pounder dominated in the Division 3 individual regional Saturday at Kalkaska. Sanford rolled to the championship with three straight pins in 43 seconds, 1:52, and 1:51, including the latter over Gladstone’s Conner Britton in the finals. That makes it six straight pinfalls in individual state tournament competition for Sanford, who is now 40-7 on the season.
