The nominees are announced and voting opens on Wednesday morning. Voting closes at noon Friday. Shortly after, the winner of the CatchMark Performance of the Week will be announced.
Without further ado, here are the nominees for the CatchMark Performance of the Week for events spanning April 18-23, 2022. Read the description of each athlete’s achievements and cast your vote at the bottom of the story.
NOA BOWEN, North Muskegon girls tennis
The Norse’s No. 1 singles player is off to a great start to her senior season (9-2) for her team, which is ranked No. 4 in Division 4 and off to a 7-0-1 start entering today’s home dual vs. Grant. Bowen won her match in a dual with Fremont, 6-0, 6-0, during the week. On Saturday, she went 3-0 as North Muskegon rolled past Grand Rapids Northview, Muskegon Catholic Central and Reeths-Puffer at the Rocket Invite Triple Duals.
JESSICA JAZWINSKI, Hart girls track and field
The freshman took first place in four events as the Pirates finished runner-up in the Bob Misner Invitational Saturday at Grand Rapids West Catholic. Jazwinski won the 800 (2:18.69 PR) and 1600 (5:14.4) and she was part of first-place 4×400 and 4×800 relay quartets. Tuesday at Oakridge, she won the 1600 (5:05.0 PR) and 300 hurdles (52.83).
BEN MEYERS, North Muskegon baseball
The sophomore catcher finished 7-for-9 with a double and four runs in the Norsemen’s sweep of Ravenna in West Michigan Conference action last Tuesday. In the first game, Meyers went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. In North Muskegon’s first eight games, he was 19-for-28 (.679) with two homers, including a grand slam.
COREY VANDERPUTTE, Oakridge baseball
The senior center fielder powered the Eagles to a nonconference sweep of Fremont last Wednesday with a monster day at the plate. Vanderputte finished 6-for-7 on the day, including going 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored in the second game. After the doubleheader against Fremont, Vanderputte was hitting .556 on the season.
