Choose from four standout performers from last week’s events in the West Michigan Conference.

Each week, CatchMark SportsNet will highlight performances from the previous week of spring sports action in the West Michigan Conference.

VanDyk Mortgage brings you the CatchMark Performance of the Week.

The nominees are announced and voting opens on Wednesday morning. Voting closes at noon Friday. Shortly after, the winner of the CatchMark Performance of the Week will be announced.

Without further ado, here are the nominees for the CatchMark Performance of the Week for events spanning April 25-30, 2022. Read the description of each athlete’s achievements and cast your vote at the bottom of the story.

WILL CHYE, Mason County Central baseball

The junior led the Spartans to a West Michigan Conference sweep of host Whitehall on Monday, April 25. Chye hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh inning of a 3-1 victory and he pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks. In a 5-2 win in the second game, he doubled twice. On the day, Chye finished with four hits, four runs scored and two RBIs.

BROOKLYN GALDEEN, Oakridge softball

The senior was in the middle of an Eagles power display in a 17-1 victory over host Montague in a West Michigan Conference sweep on Tuesday, April 26. Galdeen hit two home runs in one inning for Oakridge, one of them a grand slam, for five RBIs in the game. Galdeen also earned the pitching victory in that game. The Eagles won the second game of the doubleheader, 24-3.

CHARLEY KLINT, Whitehall track and field

The senior dominated in the Kent City Elite Invitational Friday, April 29. Klint won the 300-meter hurdles race with a season-best time of 51.59 seconds. She also took first place in pole vault with an effort of 9 feet. Klint finished second in the 100 hurdles with a season-best time of 17.00, and she anchored the Vikings’ fourth-place 4×400 relay team.

AVA PELTON, Montague soccer

The freshman netted a hat trick plus she notched a pair of assists for eight total points in Montague’s 8-0 victory over visiting Hart in a West Michigan Conference match on Tuesday, April 26. On the season, Pelton has four goals and three assists to lead the Wildcats with 11 points.
