Welcome to the CatchMark SportsNet: Player of the Week, where we celebrate the unsung heroes and rising stars who light up the local sports scene! Each week, we put the spotlight on three extraordinary athletes who not only rack up impressive stats but also inspire their teammates and elevate their game.

At the end of this article, you’ll find a poll where you can cast your vote for the athlete you believe deserves the title of Player of the Week. The poll will be open for one week, starting today and ending on the following Friday (April 18th, 2025). Spread the word, share this article, and rally your friends and family to vote for their favorite athlete! Let’s make some noise and show our local sports stars the appreciation they deserve!

Emma Herremans, Senior, Ravenna Softball

The senior is committed to play softball at Ferris State University and has been a key player for the Bulldogs since she was a freshman. Ravenna traveled to Mason County Central for a conference doubleheader this past Tuesday. Herremans launched a home run and a triple in game one and hit two home runs in the nightcap.

Ayden Mendoza, Junior, Whitehall Track

Mendoza is a standout track athlete at Whitehall, who broke the school record for high jump just over a month ago. On Saturday, he competed at the GR Elite Challenge and recorded a jump of 6’6″. Mendoza’s PR is 6’10” and has hit 6’9″ multiple times as well.

Jennah Skiba, Senior, Ludington Girls Tennis

Skiba is the Orioles’ number one singles player this season and currently boasts a 14-0 record on the season. She recently took first place at the Ludington quad invitational on Saturday. Through 14 matches this season, Skiba has only lost one set.

Myles Welch joined CatchMark in February 2024 as a CatchMark SportsNet Intern. He would like to become a sports broadcaster or analyst. He currently attends Whitehall High School and will graduate in 2025.
