GIRLS GOLF

Medalist Emma McKinley leads Ludington to another WMC title

Led by a 3-over 75 by medalist Emma McKinley, Ludington’s girls golf team defended its West Michigan Conference title at the WMC Championship tournament Friday at Lincoln Golf Club.

Paige Anderson’s bogey-free, 4-under score powers R-P to GMAA title

Reeths-Puffer senior Paige Anderson shot a 4-under-par 69 to earn medalist honors and lead her Rockets to the team title in the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament Wednesday at Oak Ridge Golf Club.

Whitehall stays unbeaten with runaway win over Oakridge

Oakridge became the first WMC Lakes Division opponent to score against Whitehall, but it was all Vikings in their matchup with the visiting Eagles Friday night, 48-7.

North Muskegon takes care of Montague, improves to 6-0

North Muskegon put its explosive offense and stingy defense on display in a 34-7 victory over visiting Monday Friday night in WMC nondivisional football action.

Kaden Kott, Manistee run past rival Ludington

Kaden Kott rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries to lead host Manistee to a 44-23 victory over rival Ludington and reclaim the Dad’s Trophy.

VOLLEYBALL

Ludington earns key win at Montague

Montague won the first set and battled throughout the match, but Ludington earned a key victory in WMC Lakes Division play last Tuesday at Montague. Ludington defeated Montague, 21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-12.

Whitehall rallies past Oakridge

Host Whitehall rallied from a two-goal deficit with three tallies in the final 20 minutes en route to a 3-2 victory over Oakridge on Wednesday in WMC action.

Montague splits with Oakridge and Fremont

Montague’s boys soccer team split with Oakridge and Fremont in WMC action last week.

Drew Hackney, Mona Shores cruise to GMAA titles

Drew Hackney won his fourth straight Greater Muskegon Athletic Association boys tennis title while leading Mona Shores to the team championship.

Hart’s Jazwinski siblings chasing lofty running goals together

Hart siblings Jessica and Bobby Jazwinski are putting up some impressive times this season.

They were featured last week in CatchMark SportsNet’s Athlete Spotlight.

GIRLS SWIMMING AND DIVING

Ludington’s Cora Mahler qualifies for state finals in 200 freestyle

Cora Mahler’s state-qualifying time in the 200 freestyle was among Ludington’s highlights in the Holland Christian D3 Midseason Invitational Saturday at Holland Aquatic Center. The Orioles junior finished second in the event with a time of 2:04.03.

Ludington’s squad of 12 posted 16 personal- and 11 season-best times.  

The Orioles’ Madison Bearup took first place in the 100 breaststroke, second in the 200 individual medley, and she ran a leg on Ludington’s 200 freestyle relay team that just missed qualifying for the state.
